In this class, students will read award winning contemporary literature and discuss its attributes both as class discussions, projects, and written responses. Dialogs will include mastery of literary elements, appreciation of how literature mirrors current events, and written expression of the impact literature has to our personal lives.
Building on previous IEW skills, students will master the writing process using dress-ups, sentence starters, decorations, and advanced descriptors in order to create a quality 5 paragraph essay.
This class will require 3-4 hours of outside class each week and is appropriate for 5-6-7 grades.
