Scribbles class will have all new lessons, stories, and projects for the 2018-2019 school year.

Squish, build, scribble and experiment with doughs and paints galore! We will create artwork together using all your senses with hands-on sensory expression. We will incorporate literature by reading a story and then creating art based on the theme the story established.

From painting, printmaking to pastels, your little artist will learn the fundamentals of art while focusing on the process, not just the product. Join the fun and dress for mess and artistic success!

Pinterest Art: (Grades 2-5) Jana Hake

Do you have a whole Pinterest Board designated to Art full of great ideas that you have pinned and never gotten to?  We all have good intentions but how many of us really have all the supplies on hand, the time, or even the expertise to pull them all off?  Well, I do, and I love to make art with your students!

This class is designed for creating really cool art and understanding how we can inspire with our creativity.  We will talk about the elements and principles of art as we work, but the goal of this class will be to make colorful show-stopping artwork!

We will learn about the great artists and their fantastic art styles all while creating our own art! We will also learn a variety of painting techniques while creating canvas paintings. Together, we will walk through the creative process to build your artistic confidence to draw, paint, design and sculpt your very own creations.

Studio Art (Grades 9-12) Jana Hake

Studio Art class will have all new lessons and projects for the 2018-2019 school year.

Studio Art is for those who love to draw, paint, and sculpt!  In the Studio, we will explore advanced approaches to expand your creativity and artistic skills.  You will gain drawing, painting, and sculpting confidence and inspiration as we look at the history of great art.  We’ll work from still life, photos, and your imagination. Using a variety of materials including graphite, pen & ink, charcoal, oil pastel, colored pencil, acrylic paint, canvas and a variety of sculpting materials we will work through exciting and engaging art projects.

Come paint and have fun with us once a month as we create a variety of acrylic paintings on 16 x 20 stretched canvases.  The paint party concept is all the rage because anyone can do it (no experience needed)!  In this relaxed environment, everyone will work on the same painting while I demonstrate and instruct step by step the process for each painting.  You will learn a variety of painting techniques while creating your own canvas paintings throughout the year. So grab your friends and come have a great time painting!

Kids Boot Camp P.E. (K-1 Grade) Melinda Elam

Join us each week for a challenging and fun workout designed to build endurance and strength, at an age-appropriate level. This class will include a lot of traditional Bootcamp elements as well as some fun P.E. games. This class is a great complement to any other sport or workout plan or just a fun way to get your child moving!

Elementary Spanish: (Grades 2-5) Tim Carpenter

Elementary Spanish is designed to teach basic vocabulary. There is also a cultural component, which exposes students to the geography and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.  This component is increasingly important as we integrate more activities with an international focus into the curriculum.

Middle School Spanish: (Grades 6-8) Tim Carpenter – Class is full, but proceed to registration to be put on a waiting list.

Writers Workshop (Grades 2-3) Theresa Hale

This course is an introduction of young writers to the writing process and how to express themselves in complex sentences, opinion paragraphs, nonfiction and fiction products. Students will take ideas from graphic plan sheets in each genre to published works. This is a 2-year class so all new material will be used this year. 

IEW Level B Continuation (Grades 8-9) Theresa Hale

Institute of Excellence in Writing (IEW) is based on the principles of the award-winning Teaching Writing/ Student Writing with lessons that cover outlines, paragraph writing, story sequencing, summarizing and working from multiple references, and creative writing for the older middle school/beginning high school writer. Deposit includes student book and supplies. 

Literature Dialogs (Grades 8-9) Theresa Hale

Students will discuss award-winning literature with a focus on age-appropriate authors for today’s young readers. Dialogs will include reading for enjoyment, author literary techniques, and appreciation for how literature can mirror our current lives and society views. Booklist will be provided in August.

Book Club (Grades 5-7) Theresa Hale

Reading of age-appropriate award-winning literature in an informal atmosphere to promote a love of reading and discussion with peers of topics embedded in the literature that impact our lives. Analysis of author techniques and writing styles of different genres will be included. Booklist will be provided in August. Snacks will be provided.

IEW Level A (Grades 4-5) Scarlett Martin

Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) Text: Fables, Myths and Fairy Tales Writing Lessons

In this course, students will learn to take notes, summarize references, and compose their own fables, myths, and fairy tales while working with classic children’s literature.   Deposit includes student book and supplies.

Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) Text: Medieval History-Based Writing Lessons
